the problem with amarok solved
Okay So the problem with amarok scanning my music was because I was using smbfs to mount the share from my server.. I guess the TagLib doesn't work very well over smbfs. I changed fstab to use cifs instead and remounted the shares. Amarok scanned all of my music this way. Not as fast as if it was locally stored, but it didn't freeze any. Hooray for me .

Last.Fm and amarok
So I've had an account on Last.FM for a long time but I never really used it.. I started using it again the other day because Amarok had an option for the audioscrobbler thing. And I downloaded the plugin for winamp on windows as well. So my list of played songs should be updated pretty constantly now..
Unless I decide to switch away from amarok.. It seems like a decent player but I dont like that it uses KDE. And it also has problems scanning my music collection.. since only about 2gb of it are stored locally and I get the other 50gb or so through a Samba share on my server(same network). None of the other players have this much of a problem using it though, so I might switch back to xmms or mpd/mpc sometime soon.
As for my last 10 played songs:
